What kind of towel do you use????

Being a new natural has taking me on an extended journey through the world of dos and don'ts. Through this process I have thought long and hard about using a towel. I have watched youtube videos and a lot women are versatile on the topic. My limbo was between using a towel and a tshirt, until I was reading a celebrity post who had natural hair and she said she used a curly hair towel.

What??? Wait???? A curly hair towel??? Since when???  Honestly I use a towel and a tshirt, depending on what I grab. Regardless of what I use though I do not rub my hair, I gently grab my hair with the towel or tshirt and blot the damp hair. But now I'm curoius about this curly hair towel. I did a search and this is what they had to say:

Did you know the coarse texture of a terrycloth towel promotes frizz and is too absorbent for the gentle fabric that is curly hair? The Deva Towel provides a smooth surface and absorbs just enough water allowing our styling products to set curls while keeping them defined, frizz-free and intact.

So my question is what do you use and why????

2 strand Twist on Dry hair

Hey Ladies!!!!!
So I am attempting to wear my natural hair for longer than two weeks.  I did a two strand twist last week on wet hair, and it was okay but the shrinkage made them hard to style so I took them out after one day and I decided I would do a two strand twist on dry hair. And here is my results:
Let me just say that I am 5 months pregnant and I don't like to wear my hair pulled back but after looking as SimlYounique's youtube video on 5 protective styles for the winter I was inspired.

To achieve this look I washed, conditioned and than deep conditioned all with Alikay Nautral's hair products. Than I blow dried on low heat after applying both a leave-in conditioner and heat protective serum.  Once complete I twisted with shea yogurt hair moisturizer (Alikay Naturals) and a little of ecostyler gel for hold.

So far it's been good. I am only on my second day of wearing it but I hope to wear it until friday (12/16). We will see :)

A protective style for little girls

So of course as everyone knows my baby girl is a natural by default (lol). We don't have the same grade of hair of course because she's part hawaiian, so everynow and than I like to see what hair styles I can achieve that will allow me to keep my hands out of it. So when she fell asleep the other night I did flat twists all around her hair adn finger coiled the ends. It came out really pretty and I thought I would share.
To achieve this look I used the water and alikay natural lemongrass leave-in conditioner.
(Next time I will use a little ecostyler gel w/ olive oil for hold)

I also used ouchless hair ties to hold them in place. It took me no time to do ladies (considering that she was sleep)

DOES SECOND DAY HAIR EXIST????

So I did two strand twist on my hair Thursday, I had every intentional on trying to wear it as a style but the shrinkage was horrible, so I decided to take it out that morning. It was beautiful.

To achieve this look, I washed with black soap, conditioned with Alikay Naturals carribean coconut  milk conditioner (which I love), and deep conditioned with Honey and Sage DC. Once I was done I twisted damp hair with the lemongrass leave in and shea yogurt hair moisturizer. I left it in from 3pm till 9am the next day. And thus my hair was beautiful.

However the next day when I woke up my hair was a hot mess :( I tied it up with a satin bonnet, but I didn't work). It looked like a fro again, the back had curls but the front had lost them and the back ends were frizzing. It totally confusion I searched youtube, curlynikki.com and bglhonline.com in search of tips on how to achieve second day hair. Well I ran across a few tips.

1. When wearing 2 strand twist, retwist at night to maintain hair pattern
2. if wearing a WnG mist hair at night and sleep with shower cap

for more visit:

So I took the retwist into consideration and I retwist my hair loosely to try and maintain the curl pattern (at least what was last) and this is what I ended up with. This is 3rd day hair by the way lol!!!

So my question is to you ladies, what are your tips for achieving second day hair??
